PADI Professional Courses

PADI Divemaster Course

The Divemaster Course is the first level of leadership in the PADI system and is the entry level for PADI professional membership. The objective of this course is to train divers as supervisory personnel and dive guides. The course content is dependent upon the chosen method of training. There are two options, the first being an intensive two week course whereby the academic subjects have been studied prior to arrival.

A better option, which we highly recomend, is an Internship over a period of time, where the student is able to assist an Instructor with  client courses and gain a greater understanding of the preparatory work required before attending an Instructor Development Course.

PADI Assistant Instructor Course

The Assistant Instructor Course will enhance your certified assistant teaching skills and provide further preparation for attending an Instructor Development Course. You will assist an Instructor with both academic and in water sessions on Open Water, Advanced Open Water and Rescue Courses.

Both the above courses are available at all times throughout the year, please contact us for more information and the costs of the courses and associated items like accommodation.

PADI Instructor Development Course

The next step is the Instructor Development Course (IDC) leading to the Instructor Examination (IE).

Gozo Aqua Sports runs an IDC twice a year in Marsalforn, Gozo, Malta, which links into an IE taken in Malta. We arrange everything you need for this course, please contact us for details and dates of next course.

The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the final step towards becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. During the IDC you’ll learn to use and apply the PADI System of diver education to train recreational scuba divers. PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors can conduct a broad range of PADI programs from PADI Discover Scuba Diving through to the PADI Divemaster course.

Gozo Aqua Sports is a PADI Instructor Development Centre and we have been training PADI Instructors for over 10 years.

Clive Albon, our PADI Course Director, has over 2500 PADI Instructor level certifications and is one of only 61 PADI Platinum Course Directors in the world.

During the IDC you learn techniques for teaching knowledge development, confined water training and open water training for the full range of PADI courses.

The duration of the course is 7 days, and all of our courses are scheduled to precede a PADI Instructor Examination.

During the IDC you will be teaching presentations in the classroom, confined water and open water. You will also cover how to organise and conduct the various PADI courses and marketing and customer service issues. We’ll also explore risk management, legal matters relating to diving and dive centre operations.

Following the IDC we run a PADI Master Scuba Trainer Preparation course, were you will learn how to teach at least 5 PADI Specialty Courses. This program runs over 2-3 days. If you do the program with our Course Director you’ll be able to teach the courses as soon as you become an instructor.

We also regularly conduct EFR Instructor courses. Following the 1 day course you’ll be able to teach EFR Primary and Secondary, and Care for Children courses.
